Cannabis Leaves handpainted on Genuine Vintage 1810 Printed English/Irish Hemp Law Act
Painting on a vintage paper
Mineral pigments
Size: ~32x20 cm / ~13x8 inches
Moulded on another layer of paper, not framed
I am continuing to experiment with old paper found at a flea market. This time it was a Law Act by George III, printed in 1810. The text is related to hemp sale in Ireland, so I just used a green Japanese pigment and painted a cannabis bush over the text — it was a spontaneous decision, and the result is delightfully imperfect. I think this may be a funny gift to a marijuana enthusiast or just a curious addition to an eclectic/boho interior.
The painting is mounted (stretched on another, slightly larger, layer of paper), NOT framed. Stamped with the smallest of my personal Oriental seals.
