St Erzsebet Church Budapest Sumi-e Painting: Gothic Roses Art

This is an original painting of Budapest Szent Erzsébet (Saint Elizabeth of Hungary) church in Japanese sumi-e style, Oriental ink on rice paper.

Size: 70×50 cm (ca. 27½ × 20 inches)

The Szent Erzsébet parish church is the Roman Catholic church located on Rózsák (Roses) square in Budapest. It was built between 1895 and 1901 based in the neo-Gothic style, and is the second largest church in the district and one of the most significant landmarks of my home town, Budapest. I painted it in my favorite Japanese sumi-e style shifting the focus from the building to rose flowers so relevant to St Elizabeth's story.

This highly decorative and unusual painting will look great in any interior as it is drifting between styles and cultures, highlighting the beauty of the nature and city architecture.

This painting is mounted (stretched on another layer of rice paper) and stamped with my personal seal.
