Gold Enso Zen Circle Painting on Black Rice Paper, Zen Calligraphy Art
€195,00
Size: 24×24 inches (61×61 cm)
This particular Enso has been created on the last Full Moon night of 2025, 4 December.
I used rare black rice paper and Japanese golden ink with my favorite brush made of wolf's hair. Usually I do black Ensos on white paper, so this one is really special. I believe it's deeply philosophical and highly decorative at the same time.
In Zen Buddhism, Enso is a circle that is hand-drawn in one fluid brushstroke to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. I draw Enso circles to concentrate and to unleash my creative power. This is always spontaneous, depending on what's around and what's inside me, and it's great spiritual practice close to meditation. The Enso symbolizes enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and the void. It is characterized by a minimalism born of Japanese aesthetics. The tools and mechanics of drawing the Enso are the same as those used in traditional Japanese calligraphy: a brush, ink and thin rice paper.
The finished work has imprints of stone seals carved by myself: one is my personal seal, the other says "Peace of Mind". Both imprints are in the same gold ink as the Enso itself.
This work will be sent in a protective tube, unframed, includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
