Brush Sings, Ink Dances — Hand Carved Stone Seal, Japanese Hanko Chop Stamp

This is an Oriental stone seal saying 笔歌墨舞 ("Brush Sings, Ink Dances") — an expression often used to describe the high quality of an artist's or a calligrapher's work.

The seal is hand-carved in black stone. It may be used as a personal seal, as an exlibris mark, as an artist's signature on paintings or calligraphy works, and may be a curious gift for any Oriental-minded person.

I enjoy carving seals and consider it a part of my artistic practice. I always carve my seals by hand, like it used to be for centuries, never use any machines or ready-made designs. Every seal has its own character that will never be reproduced.
