Bamboo sumi-e painting

A large sumi-e painting of bamboo in Japanese ink on handmade rice paper.

This is an original painting, not a print or a copy. I used black natural ink and top quality rice paper for this beautifully minimalist piece designed to be a focal point of any interior.

The bamboo is symbolic of purity and innocence, but also of strength and prosperity. This is one of the favorite plants in traditional oriental painting and a recurring subject in my sumi-e artworks. I prefer to paint bamboo in pure Oriental minimalist style where every element is painted with a single precise stroke, leaving much of the painting to the viewer's imagination.

This painting is mounted (stretched on another layer of rice paper), signed and stamped with my personal seal and "Brush Sings, Ink Dances" seal also carved by myself.
