Painting on rice paper
Ink and mineral pigments
Size: 23x33 cm / 9x13 inches
Traditional Japanese (sumi-e) painting. Handpainted on highest quality rice paper in ink and Japanese mineral pigments, mounted, unframed. Signed and stamped with my personal seal and "Happiness" seal. Size: 13x9 inches (approx.33x23 cm). This is NOT a print or a reproduction, this is my original artwork.
In Japan, a common iris definition includes the idea of purifying evil energies and protecting those who wear it or has its image. The iris flower is a common symbol found in kimono fabrics, as well as in paintings and the short Japanese poetry style known as haiku. And of course it is very frequent in Sumi-e painting! This relatively small artwork will look great on a mantlepiece, on a desk or on a bookshelf, but it will also complement any interior as a wall decoration.
